International Status of Automotive Wireless Charging Technology

Edit:Shenzhen Keliway Technology.,LtdUpDate:Mar 23, 2018

Currently in the international arena, auto manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Toyota, etc., and communications companies such as Qualcomm have begun to study the wireless charging technology of electric vehicles. Among them, the wireless charging technology solution of Audi is mainly aimed at the problem of loss of efficiency in the transmission process. This solution uses a wireless charging system that can be lifted and lowered to make the transmission coil at the cable end closer to the receiving coil at the bottom of the electric vehicle, thereby improving the power transmission efficiency. The wireless charging technology developed by BMW and Mercedes-Benz has been tested and applied to the BMW i8 series. As for Volvo, it has completed the test of the wireless charging system for electric vehicles. It is said that the entire charging process will take less than 3 hours. As wireless charging technology is relatively mature, it has already begun to be put into use in some places in foreign countries. In 2014, South Korea laid a 12-kilometer wireless charging section, and vehicles can drive while driving on the road while charging.
